E-scrap Symposium 2016

A special symposium titled “E-scrap symposium 2016” was held on September
27, 2016, in the Convention Hall of the Institute of Industrial Science
(IIS) with nine invited speakers from government, industry, and academia.
The symposium was inaugurated with an opening address by Professor Teruo
Fujii, Director of IIS. Approximately 200 people attended this symposium
and participated in the discussion on the current status and challenges
of E-scrap recycling. On September 28, a plant tour of the recycling facilities
was arranged for students and young researchers. Participants visited the
Strategic Urban Mining Research Base (SURE) of the National Institute of
Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the Hitachi Works
of the JX Nippon Mining & Metals Corporation.
